How EU Bra Sizing Works
The European Union bra sizing system uses centimeters for band measurements. Standard EU band sizes include 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105 — where each number represents the underbust measurement in centimeters rounded to the nearest 5cm. For example, a 75cm underbust typically corresponds to an EU band size 75.
EU cup sizing uses a straightforward letter progression: A (12.5cm difference), B (15cm), C (17.5cm), D (20cm), E (22.5cm), F (25cm), G (27.5cm), and so on. While the letter system looks similar to US/UK, the centimeter-based increments mean an EU cup is not the same absolute size as a US/UK cup with the same letter. A EU 75C is roughly equivalent to a US 34C, but the exact fit can differ slightly.
EU sizing is used across Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, Spain, and many other European countries. However, European brands often label their bras with both EU and French sizing, which adds 15 to the band number (e.g., EU 75 = French 90). Always check the specific sizing on the tag.
Brands like Triumph, Anita, Chantelle, Hunkemöller, and Prima Donna use EU sizing. The quality and fit of EU bras is generally excellent, with German and Austrian engineering traditions influencing design — wire channels tend to be more padded, straps are often wider, and materials prioritize durability. When shopping EU brands, measure your underbust in centimeters for the most accurate starting point.
