How UK Bra Sizing Works

The United Kingdom bra sizing system is widely considered the gold standard in the lingerie industry. UK sizing uses inches for band measurements (28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50+) and a consistent, logical cup progression: A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, J, JJ, K, and beyond.

The key advantage of UK sizing is consistency between brands. Unlike US sizing where cup naming becomes confusing after D, UK sizing maintains a predictable progression: each single letter increment represents one cup size. The double letters (DD, FF, GG) are not "half sizes" — they are full cup increments. For example, the progression from D goes: D → DD (5-inch diff) → E (6-inch) → F (7-inch) → FF (8-inch) → G (9-inch).

Major UK brands like Panache, Freya, Fantasie, Curvy Kate, and Elomi are known for engineering bras for fuller busts (D-K cups), and their sizing is remarkably consistent across styles. When converting from US to UK sizing at cup sizes above D: a US DDD/G is equivalent to a UK F, and a US H is equivalent to a UK FF.
